President's Letter

Happy Holidays! This is the time of the year when many of us focus on appreciating those who have made a positive influence on our lives. I would like to take this opportunity to give a hearty "shout-out" in appreciation of three of our LAVGC hard-working committees, Audio Visual, Hospitality & Reception who make each and every general meeting proceed smooth as silk. When you arrive at the meeting you are greeted by a cheerful welcoming crew, willing and able to help new members or visitors, while assisting us all in finding our lovely name tags. The refreshments provided so generously by so many members are beautifully arranged, complete with floral pieces, complimented with paper service and drinks, all thanks to the most organized and dedicated hospitality committee. Of course, where would be without our tech specialists, keepers of the P.A. system and projector, who strive to make sure each meeting is comfortable for members and guest speakers? I salute and sincerely thank the members of these three dedicated committees for making each LAVGC meeting a friendly and pleasurable destination.

Best wishes to everyone for a Healthy and Happy New Year. Dolores Bengtson, Co-President

There are no green thumbs or black thumbs. There are only gardeners and non-gardeners. Gardeners are the only ones who ruin after ruin get on with the high defiance of nature herself creating, in the very face of her chaos and tornado, the bower of roses and the pride of irises. It sounds very well to garden in a "natural way". You may see the natural way in any desert, any swamp, and any leech-filled laurel hell. Defiance, on the other hand, is what makes gardeners.
