Co-President’s Letter

Looking at the weather today as I write, it appears the speaker’s subject at last month’s meeting at Alden Lane ‘Winterizing your Garden,’ could not have come at a better time. Having lost all my pelargoniums last year when we had that freak snowfall in Pleasanton in November, I’ve spent the day rushing about pulling plants into shelter and wrapping up the larger ones. The positive side of this is that it has made me start the Holiday decorating much earlier than usual - the citrus and bougainvilleas are festooned with Christmas lights!

I’m sorry that job commitments made me unable to attend the Club meeting and the New Members Meeting last month but I have heard good reports from everyone involved. Thank you to all the committee members for all their time and efforts in making these events such a success. And of course a big thank you to Alden Lane Nursery and Pleasanton Gardens for the use of their facilities.

December is usually a quieter month for Garden Club Activities but Sondra and I are looking forward to welcoming you all to our annual Holiday Pot-Luck – the Club Meeting will start at 6.30pm to accommodate an hour of feasting and chatting. And don’t forget the Holiday Wreath workshop on December 11th to get you in the festive mood.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Holiday Season!
